My Story

General Notes | Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Notes from the shelter volunteer -Jake is perfect! I could go on and on and on and on about this guy. He is an older gentleman who has obviously had a rough life, but he still has a heart of gold. Jake is incredibly potty trained (as in he had obviously held it for a very long time and pulled me right to the grass). He knows sit and gives paw! He looks like a full lab and has that lovely kind lab demeanor that I can't resist. His tail was alwaysssss wagging and he was happy to see everyone we met. I temp tested him with another dog and he gave some happy tail wags and then moved along with his business, never once showing a negative reaction to anyone or anything. His body tells a tale of neglect, but his smile keeps on shining through. When I walked him past his brother (Rudy) in the kennel they both lit up! Happy tails wags all around! I just love him! Enjoying some fresh air - https://youtu.be/z1zAi_ObpaM Enjoying pets - https://youtu.be/nWzItzF1kuQ Knows sit - https://youtu.be/lwsQjlqzywM Story | Max, Rudy, Jake and Rocky have a very sad story. They were abandoned in the streets by their owners, and when contacted to let them know their 4 senior dogs were at the shelter, the owners said they no longer want them. Unfortunately this put them at immediate risk of euthanasia at the shelter due to their age and limited capacity. Other Dogs | Friendly! Jake is great with other dogs. Cats | Children | Training | Leash | Activity Level | Health Notes | Jake is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm NEGATIVE! Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
