My Story

HELGA arrived at the shelter in mid March 2024 along with her littermates. They were estimated at 6 to 7 weeks of age at that time. She is friendly, but a little shy and the other puppies were beating up on her as they got older. So, staff separated her from her siblings. She and one brother, HVITSERK still remain at the shelter. To help HELGA get over her shyness, staff took her inside the gated area of the front office on February 3, 2025. She was so thrilled to be upfront with the staff and a couple of their own dogs and she did just fine with them. Even better, the shelter Director took her outside to play in the sunshine that showed up unexpectedly that day. What a blast she had outside rolling over and over on the grass. She could not get enough of it, - that, and the treats that the shelter Director kept giving to her to help her along. With the right encouragement from someone who has patience, and time to make her feel loved, HELGA will be a wonderful dog in the right home. Love and patience is what most of the shelter dogs need and they need to get it in a real home with a real family. HELGA has not yet been spayed and that must be done before she can go home with you as your own! Serious adopters are encouraged to CALL the shelter to schedule an adoption appointment. Staff can explain the adoption procedures and fees when you call. The shelter does require EXACT change in the form of cash or a check. The shelter is UNABLE to accept credit or debit. So, please go prepared!
