My Story

Meet Hilly: A Carolina Sweetheart Seeking Her Forever Home Meet Hilly, a captivating 1 year old Carolina Dog with a heart of gold! This spunky sweetheart is looking for her forever home where she can thrive. Hilly's Personality: Playful Companion: Hilly enjoys playtime immensely and would benefit greatly from having a canine companion to romp around with. Affectionate Nature: She surprises her foster mom with unexpected kisses at her desk and enjoys cozying up for snuggles at night. Independent Spirit: True to her breed, Hilly has an independent streak. She's not fond of public outings like parks or busy streets and prefers a more relaxed lifestyle. High-Energy: This athletic girl is incredibly fast, reminiscent of a graceful deer. She loves to run and explore, so a spacious yard is a must. Living with Hilly: Leash Training: While Hilly can be leashed with her canine companions, she's not the most enthusiastic leash walker. Independent Spirit: Hilly requires an experienced owner who can understand and appreciate her independent nature. Secure Environment: A securely fenced yard is essential to allow her to explore and exercise safely. Hilly's Favorites: Affection: Belly rubs are her absolute favorite! Tasty Treats: Hilly enjoys the occasional carrot or banana treat. Important Note: Hilly may not be suitable for all homes. She requires an experienced owner who can provide her with the love, attention, and understanding she deserves. PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for puppies covers initial deworming, puppy vaccinations, microchip, and spay/neuter at the rescue's approved vet at 6 months of age. Please see our website for more information. 2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $350 Dogs over 12 months - $250 For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our puppies live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match! **Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
