My Story

Hugo is ready for his new home Hugo seems to have had a rough start to life. Of course we never know what a dog has gone through but look at his little ears. We believe he was kept outside and not treated really well. He was a found dog that nobody claimed. No microchip . Since coming to our rescue he has been vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and loved. He now is looking for a family of his own. Hugo is young and is super playful. The vet estimated him to be one to two years old. Since he is young, he has a ton of energy. He likes other dogs and would love to play all day if the other dogs would let him. He would be perfect for someone that runs, jogs or hikes. He loves toys and balls. He loves to destroy them and can do that very quickly. Though he does have a lot amount of energy he does like quiet time also. He is super sweet and loving and seems eager to please. I think he will be very trainable if somebody puts in the effort. Things you need to consider prior to submitting an application. * He is very vocal, likes to bark and has a big bark. Apartments would not be a great place for him unless you are dedicated to training. I have been using a squirt bottle which is actually effective. * He loves other dogs and to play. A home with another young dog is optimal. * He loves to sit on your lap and snuggle, however he gets growly when you try to move him. He has never bitten but with his big voice it seems a little scary. I would hesitate to adopt to a family with young children just because of this. * About 90% potty trained. There is still some marking going on but he’s learning very fast. We have a doggie door here and it’s rare when he doesn’t go outside. * He really needs a yard to help with his activity level. If he doesn’t have a way to use up energy it will only cause problems. Yards help. * He will need leash training and other basic training. Like pretty much all rescue dogs do! * He is a dachshund mix but he is 78% dachshund. We had DNA done. Check the results in the pictures. Something else that is very unusual about him. He has some long hair dispersed throughout his fur. They are longer and of a slightly different texture and color. Perhaps this is the poodle or pekingese in him.
