My Story

Meet Irene! This sweet little Maltese is a 2-year-old female that weighs 6.5 lbs. We rescued her last October from a puppy mill in Busan, South Korea, which our team shut down. Learn more about her rescue mission by watching this video. Irene will need a patient adopter who is willing to give her a steady routine and time to open up and discover her true personality! Adopting a puppy mill survivor like Irene has unique rewards and responsibilities. She has shown incredible resilience and a bright spirit, but dogs from these backgrounds often require patience and time to decompress and adjust to a loving home. She is working on potty training and will need time and training to help her accomplish this. While Irene is currently healthy and has received excellent veterinary care, potential adopters should be aware of the genetic predispositions common in dogs from such environments, including luxating patellas, heart conditions, dental issues, etc., that could arise later in life, and prepare both financially and mentally to help Irene live every day happy life.
