My Story

Male, 5 years old Jace is a super snuggle bug and an all around happy boy! He came to us from a home where he was mishandled and mistreated by children but gratefully still likes kids. Sadly, though this means that he currently doesn't trust being picked up. We expect that with time and trust he will be more welcome to picking up and holding and in the meantime he is very affectionate and loving. He loves when his foster mom sits down so can jump up onto her lap and lean in for snuggles and scratches. While only in his foster home for a short time, he has settled in to routines quickly. He loves treats, walks great on leash, and when snuggles up quietly on a dog bed to snooze when you're not paying attention to him. He also does extremely well with the grumpy resident dogs in his foster home so we think he will be great with other dogs too. He also seems to know the command "sit" when it's paired with a treat. Jace is an easy going, fun, friendly and happy guy who can't wait to find a home where he is treated like a prince and can learn to trust again. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
