My Story

Jam is an affectionate and social 10 week old possible Foxhound / Black Mouth Cur mix that weighs 14.5 lbs. He is expected to be around 60-65 lbs once he is full grown. Jam is a social butterfly that loves everyone he meets and is always the life of the party. His outgoing and silly personality shines in everything he does. He loves to make new friends, whether it is humans, dogs or cats. He is very brave and curious, and loves to explore everything around him. He is the first one in his litter to approach something new, whether it is a new training toy, a new part of the yard, or a new person that comes into the house. Since he likes to be part of the action, he can usually be found following behind his foster humans so he can investigate what they are doing around the house and yard. His new favorite human in the house is the toddler because she has lots of fun toys that he gets to investigate and play with. He really enjoys participating in training activities as well, and has picked up on learning new commands with the help of some yummy treats. Jam is medium energy, so he is a good mix of active and laid back. He does have short bursts of puppy energy that are easily burned with playtime in the backyard and wrestling with his siblings. As he grows, Jam would be a great pup to take exploring the outdoors, going hiking, and even participating in agility courses. He loves to engage in mental stimulation activities like snooting around the yard for treats, playing with puzzle games, and engaging in training activities. He is a big fan of toys too and would benefit from having a Bark Box subscription so he can have new toys to choose from each month. He will try to entice the other dogs to play with him by dragging a bigger toy around the yard then will play tug-o-war with the toy. After his playtime activities, you can expect this affectionate boy to climb in your lap for extra cuddles before he falls asleep for his puppy nap. He never turns down the chance to get ear scratches, belly rubs, and hugs from his humans. Although he loves to run around in the backyard to do puppy zoomies, he is very adaptable and would be able to adjust to leashed walks if his future home is in an apartment without a private yard. He would be a great pup to enroll in doggy day care to help burn some puppy energy and continue working on his socialization skills as he gets older if you work outside of the home or if he is the only dog in the home. Jam is dog, cat, and kid friendly. He does well with dogs of all ages and sizes. He loves making new doggy friends and will immediately want to engage in playtime with them. He would be fine being the only dog in the home as long as he gets plenty of time with his humans, but he would love to have a playful fur-sibling to grow up with and continue learning from. He is always happy and loves to play with other dogs every chance he gets, and he takes correction well when other dogs communicate that they are done with his puppy antics. He is in a foster home with kitties and is interested in being their friend, too. Although the kitties don't engage with him much, he loves to watch them and tries to initiate playtime with them. He responds well when the kitties communicate they don't want to play and then he runs off to find something else to entertain him with instead. He is also in a home with a human toddler and loves to follow her around. He is very gentle when interacting with her and won't try to grab food/toys out of her hand. He would be a great pup for a family with kids of any age because of his sweet temperament and calmer demeanor when interacting with them. Jam is kennel trained, and is currently working on mastering potty training and leash training. He has started transitioning from potty pads and a puppy litter box to going outside to do his business. He's a smart boy that has picked up quickly on where he is allowed to potty and he actually prefers to go outside more now when he needs to go. He currently sleeps in a kennel at night and enjoys having it was a safe space, so when he wants to take a nap or get a break from his siblings, he will go to his kennel to lay down. His foster mom has started leash training him, and that is still a work in progress so he will need to continue working on his leash walking skills in his forever home. Jam's ideal home environment would be a house with a fenced in backyard that he can run around, explore, and play in. He would do well in an apartment, townhouse or condo as long as he has a human home majority of the day or that has a hybrid work schedule that can take him out for a few short walks per day for exercise. He would also benefit from going to a doggy day care a few times a week or have puppy play dates if he is the only dog in his forever home. Jam is in a foster home in South Texas and will be transported once adopted. He is too young/small to be neutered at this time, so he will have a $200 REFUNDABLE neuter deposit added onto his adoption and transport fees. The neuter deposit will be paid directly to the vet of your choice once he is old enough to have the procedure done. If you are interested in adopting Jam, please fill out an application at: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application. TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back. Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets. *Applications with electric fences will not be approved for the safety of the dog* The total cost to adopt is $830, which includes a $400 adoption fee, a $230 transport fee, and a $200 REFUNDABLE neuter deposit. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormer, and health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. The refundable neuter deposit will be paid directly to your vet to go towards his neuter procedure once scheduled.
