My Story

We love Jay and we know you will too! Jay is estimated to be about 2.5 months old and is a loving boy who can't wait to meet his fur-ever family! He would thrive with an active family who has the time to dedicate to keep his days full of fun and enrichment. Jay currently weighs around 9lbs. His mom weighs around 35lbs and his suspected dad weighs around 50lbs. He and his siblings are super mutts, but we think they will be medium-sized when fully grown based on their parents' sizes. Jay came to us from another rescue, BONES Pet Rescue, in Covelo, CA. BONES works with the stray and feral dogs in the area to get the puppies to other rescues and gets the parents spayed/neutered and adopted. They reached out needing rescue placement for two litters of puppies. We were able to take a little or four (Robin, Drake, Jay, and Phoebe) and a puppy from the larger litter (Mapgpie) and the rest went to other local rescues. These kiddos are looking for individual homes so they can get the one-on-one attention they need. Jay is the lovebug of the group. He loves to cuddle and will happily cover your face in kisses if you let him. He is still learning all his basic manners, so needs a family committed to continuing his training and socialization. He is used to a life outside, so needs a family who can be patient with him as he adjusts to the indoor life. Jay has done great living with other dogs and we think he would love to have a playful pup to live with so he always has someone to wrestle with. He also seems like he could do well as an only pup with lots of opportunities to socialize with other dogs. We haven't seen Jay around cats, but he is young enough that he could do well learning how to be respectful of cats. Jay could be a great addition to a family with kids 10 years or older. Jay is still working on his house and crate training, so his new family will need to be patient with him and expect accidents. He would do best with a family who has a schedule that will allow them to slowly acclimate him to being home alone. Jay can't wait to be your new best friend! If he sounds like a buddy for you, submit an adoption application today! Jay's adoption fee is $350. Apply to adopt here! https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/ Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org) It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption.
