My Story

Jelly is a curious, playful 10 week old possible Foxhound / Black Mouth Cur mix that weighs 11 lbs. She is expected to be around 55-60 lbs once she is full grown. Jelly is an outgoing, social girl that loves to meet new friends every chance she gets. She doesn't care if it's a dog, cat, or human, she immediately wants to interact and play with them. She is a happy-go-lucky girl that enjoys romping around and being silly, and she makes the funniest faces while she's playing with her favorite humans and dog friends. This brave, curious pup is going to be perfect for a family that loves the outdoors and wants a dog that they can take exploring on nature trails and go hiking with. Her foster mom thinks she would do great in dog agility sports too because she loves to train and has lots of fun engaging in different activities she is introduced to. Although she loves to run and play, she's also happy to curl up on the couch to cuddle for nap time and belly rubs too. Jelly is medium energy, so she is a good mix of active and laid back. She does have short bursts of puppy energy that are easily burned with playtime in the backyard and playing with the other dogs in her foster home. As she grows, Jelly would love to go on fun adventures exploring the outdoors, going hiking, and even participating in agility courses. She is very smart and eager to learn, so her foster mom is able to use her interest in learning to teach her some training skills with a clicker and treats. She loves to engage in mental stimulation activities and her favorite is playing with puzzle games that have food hidden inside. She loves to play with other dogs more than she enjoys playing with toys, so she would benefit from having another playful dog in her forever home to grow up with. Although she loves to run around in the backyard to do puppy zoomies, she is very adaptable and would be able to adjust to leashed walks if her future home is in an apartment without a private yard. She would love to attend doggy day care to help burn some puppy energy and play with doggy friends if she is the only dog in the home. Jelly is dog, cat, and kid friendly. She does well with dogs of all ages and sizes. She loves making new doggy friends and will immediately want to engage in playtime with them. She is polite when she interacts with the older dogs in her foster home and responds well to correction when the dogs communicate they're done with her puppy antics. She would be fine being the only dog in the home as long as she gets plenty of time with her humans, but she would love to have a playful fur-sibling to grow up with. She is in a foster home with kitties and is interested in being their friend, too. Although the kitties don't engage with her much, she will get closer and closer to them in hopes that they will play with her. She will attempt to play with them, but when they let her know they aren't interested in playing, she handles the rejection well and finds something else to do instead. She is also in a home with a human toddler and loves to follow her around. She is very gentle when interacting with her and won't try to grab food/toys out of her hand. She would be a great pup for a family with kids of any age because of her silly, sweet temperament and would love to have human kids to play with as she grows up. Jelly is kennel trained, and is currently working on mastering potty training and leash training. She has started transitioning from using potty pads and a puppy litter box to going outside to do her business. She has picked up quickly on going outside for potty breaks, but she does need frequent and consistent potty breaks. She currently sleeps in a kennel at night and enjoys having it as a safe space. She will usually go in her kennel to nap when she is tired and is happy to hang out in there playing with her siblings even with the door is open. Her foster mom has started leash training her, and that is still a work in progress so she will need to continue working on her leash walking skills in her forever home. Jelly's ideal home environment would be a house with a fenced in backyard that she can run around, explore, and play in. She would do well in an apartment, townhouse or condo as long as she has a human home majority of the day or that has a hybrid work schedule that can take her out for a few short walks per day for exercise. She would also benefit from going to a doggy day care a few times a week or have puppy play dates if she is the only dog in her forever home. Jelly is in a foster home in South Texas and will be transported once adopted. She is too young/small to be spayed at this time, so she will have a $200 REFUNDABLE spay deposit added onto her adoption and transport fees. The spay deposit will be paid directly to the vet of your choice once she is old enough to have the procedure done. If you are interested in adopting Jelly, please fill out an application at: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application. TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back. Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets. *Applications with electric fences will not be approved for the safety of the dog* The total cost to adopt is $830, which includes a $400 adoption fee, a $230 transport fee, and a $200 REFUNDABLE spay deposit. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormer, and health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. The refundable spay deposit will be paid directly to your vet to go towards her spay procedure once scheduled.
