My Story

Jessie is about a one and a half year old Beagle/Cocker Spaniel mix. She has not at all had a good life until coming to us in October. She now knows love, warmth and safety. She was extremely thin when she came into care. She wasn't gaining much weight very quickly so when her spay happened we also had bloodwork done. Long story short she was diagnosed with Hepatic microvascular dysplasia which means she was born with a smaller liver than normal. However, when we had her bile acid levels tested, they were normal. She has now gained weight and is stable at 30 pounds. She is a good eater and is very food motivated. She has discovered that she missed out on puppy life and is making up for it. She zooms all over the yard and plays with the other dogs continually. She is also learning that cats are her friends. She will sometimes chew on things and enjoys her toys. Jessie is still skiddish around men but warms up in time. She is a beautiful, happy dog who will do best in a home with either acreage or a very large fenced yard. She may not do well in town due to her beagle bark/howl. She will also do well in a home with another dog to play with. If interested in Jessie, call us at 269 753 5400. She is about 90% housebroken. Jessie needs an owner that is committed to loving her and being patient as she works through the puppy stage.
