My Story

Jiji was named after the cat in Studio Ghibli’s “Kiki’s delivery service”. It’s a new name for her, and in fact, everything is new for this sweet, sensitive young, 11 lb. mama. She has just arrived via air transport from California. Her background is a mystery, and even her age is unknown (but she seems around 3 years old). When she arrived at FHDR, she was so shut down that she wouldn’t move at all. She had babies not long ago, and her life has been just upside down. But when she got to our home, her tail started wagging, and we could finally see the beautiful glimmers of Jiji. Jiji is just so lovely and so sweet. She has the most beautiful chocolate eyes which tell you so many stories. Her coat is shiny ebony except for the white tips of her paws. She is mellow, kind, vulnerable, and dignified all at the same time. It’s obvious that she had prior owners because she’s housetrained, walks great on a leash and knows the sit command. She’s great with everyone she’s met, and effortlessly blends into our home with two other dogs. She is very food motivated, but she doesn’t guard food or resources. She also (so far) hasn’t barked! She’s such a delight. This young mom has been through the wringer, and she deserves all the soft places and yummy treats and forever love. Jiji is such a gift, and anyone that gets to be around her calm & sweet aura will be so very lucky. Jiji is very skittish of busy streets and traffic and would do best in a quiet suburban neighborhood. Jiji is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and spayed. Her adoption fee is $500.
