My Story

Meet our sweet Hound Joey Joey is an adorable 80 lb. Hound. He is long legged and has those big, floppy hound ears. He is 4 years old, but has the energy and playfulness of a younger dog. He loves going on walks and playing with his toys. Joey also loves to cuddle and will look into your eyes and paw at you for pets Good with other dogs, especially smaller dogs, Joey lived with a 10 lb little dog in a previous home and he was very gentle with the small dog. He can also be a rough player with larger dogs, but if the other dog has this similar play style both dogs really have fun and expend a lot of energy. Joey is an eager student. He now knows to sit and 'leave it' for his food. His release word is Tacos. He is also house broken and crate trained. Quiet in the house, Joey will also let you when people are in the yard. Joey would do best in an active home and one with time to spend with him and give him all the love and attention he deserves. He would enjoy a rough and tumble dog playmate to romp with at a house with in a fenced in yard. If you think Joey might be that dog you are looking for please let us know! Visit STAF.org for more information on our adoption process and our adoption application. *** Email [email protected] for next steps! *** • All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots. • We do not do same-day adoptions. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting. • You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF. • We require a 4-foot-tall physical fence for homes with children under the age of 11. We also may require a physical fence for specific dogs on a case-by-case basis, depending on each dog’s behavior and exercise needs. • Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences. • We do request vet and personal references. • We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.
