My Story

Name: Joy Age: Estimated 11 months Sex: Female (Spayed) Weight: 22 lbs (10 kg) Energy Level: Moderate indoors (3/10), high outdoors (8/10) Foster Instagram: [https://instagram.com/t.b.t_joy] More Pictures and Videos: [https://photos.app.goo.gl/xsCb4FzfD4iEuwoa7] Rescue Background Joy was rescued in June 2024 from a high-kill shelter in Yangsan, South Korea, by our South Korean partner, The Better Tomorrow Rescue (https://www.instagram.com/tbt_rescue). Since her rescue, she has been spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Now thriving in her foster home, Joy is ready to find her forever family in the U.S. Approved adopters will have a two-week trial period to ensure a good match and long-term commitment. Personality & Behavior Joy is an affectionate, playful, and curious young dog with a lively spirit. • With Women & Children: Joy is friendly and approachable. She adores children and enjoys playing games like fetch or tug-of-war. She is gentle and even initiates play, making her a great companion for families with kids. • With Men: Joy may be cautious around men, especially those wearing dark clothing or with larger builds, though her reactions vary. With patience and positive reinforcement, she warms up over time. • With Other Dogs: Joy loves other dogs, regardless of their size. She confidently approaches larger dogs to play and is gentle with smaller ones. She respects boundaries and moves away if another dog feels uncomfortable or barks at her. • With Cats & Other Animals: Joy has a strong prey drive and is highly curious about cats, birds, and other small animals. She will need supervision and guidance to manage her excitement. Training & Habits Joy is a smart, trainable dog but still exhibits some puppy-like behaviors. • House Training: Joy is 100% outdoor potty trained. • Separation Anxiety: Joy does not display separation anxiety and rests calmly when left alone for up to 10 hours. • Chewing: While Joy has outgrown most destructive behaviors, she occasionally chews on household items like plants or mats if left accessible. She now sticks to her toys, like her coffee wood chew or tug ropes. • Car Rides: Joy does not get carsick but may feel slightly anxious during rides. She often sits close to her foster mom and watches out the window. • Leash Skills: Joy is learning leash manners and occasionally pulls when excited. She’s improving with consistent guidance and responds well to gentle corrections. • Grooming: Joy tolerates baths but isn’t a fan and may act aloof afterward. She prefers shorter sessions and will need patience to adapt to regular tooth brushing. • Vocalization: Joy is generally quiet but may bark briefly when playing with children or encountering unfamiliar adult men. Favorite Things • Activities: Joy loves playing fetch, tug-of-war, and running in open spaces. She enjoys the outdoors and thrives with regular exercise. • Toys: Squeaky toys, chew sticks, and tug ropes keep her entertained. • Treats: Joy isn’t picky and loves treats like duck jerky, training snacks, and natural chews. Daily Routine • Morning: Wakes up at 6:30 AM and enjoys an hour-long walk, breakfast, and a treat. • Daytime: Joy rests at home on weekdays while her foster mom works from 8:30 AM to 5 PM. On weekends, she enjoys more frequent outings and quality time with her foster family. • Evening: Goes for a walk around 6 PM, has dinner at 7 PM, and winds down with quiet play before bedtime around 9–10 PM. Ideal Home Joy would thrive in an active home that understands the needs of a young, energetic dog. • Second Dog: Joy loves other dogs and would do well as a second dog in a home with a confident canine companion. • Calm Environment: While she adores children, a calm household with gentle interactions is best. • Training Commitment: Joy’s new family should continue working on her leash manners and help her adjust to unfamiliar situations, especially with adult men. • Secure Fencing: A fenced-in yard or regular access to a dog park is ideal for her energy needs. Health & Care • Health Status: Joy is healthy and fully vetted. She has no known allergies and has recovered from a past ringworm infection. • Preventatives: Joy is on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention (NexGard). • Diet: She currently eats ACANA Puppy Recipe kibble and enjoys natural snacks like duck jerky, coffee wood chews, and training treats. Adoption Information Joy is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Once a suitable family is found, she will fly to the U.S. • Adoption Fee: $650 (includes international transportation). • Required Items: Adopters must provide a Tractive GPS tracking device, a Ruffwear Webmaster Harness, and a martingale collar. • Application Required: Submit an application to be considered for Joy.
