My Story

Age/Birthdate:04/06/2024 • Expected Weight: 58-71 lbas• Breed Guess: Shepherd Mix • Fully Vetted:No • Adopt fee: $500 Location:Romeovill,IL Any Special Medical or Special Needs:None Temperament with: Dogs:She’s VERY playful with other dogs. Cats:She’s curious and a little over excited. Children list specific ages: Not tested around children. Due to size she would be best in a home with children 10 and up. May knock down littles. Strangers:Initially, she’s timid but with a small amount of patience she’s incredibly outgoing. Training Needs: Basic puppy commands Crate Trained:Working on it! Potty Trained: Working on it! Using potty pads Meet June, a beautiful Shepherd puppy with a big personality! Though she’s a bit timid at first, once she gets comfortable, she becomes outgoing, playful, and incredibly sweet. She absolutely loves playing with other dogs and is curious, though sometimes a little too excited, around cats. June hasn’t been tested with children, but with her affectionate nature, she would likely do well once she feels at ease. June is currently working on potty training, using potty pads, and she’s still getting the hang of it. Crate training is also a work in progress, and she definitely can’t be left out unsupervised yet—she’s a puppy, after all! She’s learning the basics of training, and since she’s treat-motivated, training sessions are always fun for her. When it comes to food, June is obsessed! She’s not aggressive but loves to counter surf and will always be excited about mealtime. She’s also a huge fan of toys—all kinds! Playing is her favorite activity, and with her high energy, she’s always ready for more fun. June is an energetic pup who needs a home with a fenced yard where she can run and play to her heart’s content. She’ll thrive in a home with people who are dedicated to giving her the time, effort, and training she needs to grow into the wonderful dog she’s meant to be. While she’s great with other dogs, she may chase cats, so a family should be mindful of that. One of the cutest things about June is how she begs for more attention. If you stop petting her, she’ll give you a gentle nudge to let you know you’re not done yet—her sweet persistence is absolutely endearing! She/He is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. We cannot hold our dogs for any reason. Unless the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will only consider applications that are within 1 hour or 40 miles of Lemont, IL. This is due to the required vetting at our partner veterinarians. If the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will allow adoptions out of state or outside of our 1 hour or 40 mile restriction. Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within five days of approval. ADOPTION FEE: $500 (includes spay/neuter must be done when the rescue schedules it at one of our partner vets, microchip, rabies vaccine, DHPP vaccine, 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease ) and a general wellness which includes dewormer, heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention) *Please understand that we will spay/neuter no younger than 16 weeks but it is the rescue's discretion when the dog will get that procedure. We know that some veterinarians recommend waiting depending on the breed's projected size but as a rescue, our goal is to prevent further unwanted, "accidental" litters. Spaying and neutering also have many benefits for cancer prevention and avoiding behavioral problems. The American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association support pediatric spay and neuter procedures for cats and dogs as early as 8-16 weeks of age. We always assess and speak with our partner vets when is the best time to perform this procedure. Interested? Submit an adoption application at www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt
