My Story

Fast Facts * 4-year-old female * Low-medium energy * Sweet, smart and gentle girl *Loves being outdoors * Fenced yard required; she will run * Mentor dog required * House-trained for the most part * 65 pounds Bio: INTRO As told by Kellie “Sniffari adventures” are provided to me when I run and roll in the green, green grass of my foster home’s yard and while walking in the neighborhood! I live in a home with my foster mom and her dog Summer, an 8-year-old golden. Since I’m a retired breeder and had never lived in a house before joining As Good as Gold, they’ve taught me a lot about life in a house and yard. I’m even catching onto the idea that even occasional digging in the green, green grass is not favored. My golden foster sister is not the playful type, and at this point neither am I. We get along quite well; we hang out close together sometimes, and we have never gotten into a squabble. Foster mom thinks that if I were around a playful dog, my playful spirit might emerge! I tend to be a bit skittish upon meeting new folks. I’m OK with children 4 and older; unknown with littler people than that. I approach foster mom for petting, lick her hand, and wag my tail when I’m with her. But she wouldn’t describe me as a cuddler; however, over time I might become one. Foster mom has not crated me, so we don’t know how I’d do in a crate. I am comfortable in a restricted area and have my own safe space in the house. I am mostly house-trained, having accidents only when I’m left alone for long periods of time. Things I don’t do include counter surfing, jumping or chewing on inappropriate items. I also do not guard food or toys and certainly have never shown any type of aggressive behavior. I’ve already learned the “leave it” command! We’re working on sit and come. Foster mom told me I’m pretty smart! She says I’ve advanced in my walking skills since coming to live with her, and she’s proud because I rarely pull on the leash. In the house, I tend to stay in my safe place. However, I’ve become more willing to venture into other rooms in search of foster mom or the source of aromas beckoning to me from the room where my food dish is kept. Foster mom has this to say about me, “Kellie is super sweet, gentle, and with the help of a mentor dog, would be a fabulous addition to any family!” BEHAVIOR * Tiny bit nervous getting into the car, but once in, rides well. * Kellie’s response to unknown people, noises and quick movement has greatly improved. HEALTH * No medical concerns; not taking any medications.
