My Story

When divorce happens, dogs like Kessel are often hit the hardest. At six years old, the 44 lb. poodle doppelganger has lost his home and the people he loved. Somewhat shy, Kessel spent most of his life from 6am to 4 pm daily — a very long day — alone. Having had a fenced in yard, Kessel was walked very little, but is surprisingly good on leash. He had free-roaming privileges in his home, but might be a door dasher (flight risk) for a while being he is so unfamiliar with the shelter and so many new faces. He does not seem to mind the other dogs, but according to his owner, had shown some guarding around his food and toys. For people wanting a seemingly "easy" mature — but by no means old — dog, Kessel may be a perfect choice. You can visit the dogs from noon - 3 pm Saturdays and Sundays, otherwise by appointment. We always recommend submitting an application (and a copy of recent vet records for your current pets if applicable) to [email protected].
