My Story

All HSWA dogs are either at our Dog Adoption Facility or in foster homes. All dogs require an appointment to meet. Please call us at 205-554-0011 or email [email protected] to request an appointment to see the dog/puppy and to check availability. Visit us on Facebook! www.facebook.com/humaneswa Khaleesi wants to be the queen of your heart! Khaleesi, a beautiful 2 ½ -year-old dark pewter gray Lab / Staffordshire Terrier mix, hasn’t had an easy life, but throughout everything she has kept her sense of joy and love for people. Now, she’s ready to start afresh with a loving forever family that will help create new happy memories. This gentle, sweet girl was brought into a local animal shelter very pregnant and gave birth to adorable pups that have since been adopted to loving homes. Khaleesi was left behind, patiently awaiting her turn for many months, becoming a shelter and volunteer favorite. After seeing her story, the HSWA decided to pull her and place her immediately into a wonderfully loving foster home, complete with a canine brother that she loved immediately! Khaleesi’s dark grey coat is incredibly shiny and broken up only by a patch of white on her chest. While she currently weighs around 67 pounds, she isn’t an overly large dog…she’s just solidly built! Her happy and friendly demeanor is evidenced by the way she immediately takes to people and interacts with other dogs – she loves everyone! Khaleesi also loves to go on car rides, hikes, playing with toys, napping, and being outside on gorgeous days! Overall, Khaleesi is an energetic, friendly, playful, and super sweet girl who loves being in the yard and stretching her legs, is interested in everything, and most of all, loves being around people. Currently in a loving foster home and affectionately known as “Lizzie”, her foster mom has this to say…Lizzie is very busy embracing life after her long stay at the shelter. She loves the outdoors, and while sunbathing is important to her, long walks are her favorite. She is happy to meet all dogs and humans. Lizzie is housebroken, knows how to sit, and is crate trained. She has earned the privilege of sleeping in her dog bed at night and greets me happily in the morning ready for her breakfast. We are still working on “stay” and “come,” but Lizzie is smart and wants to please. She is beautiful and delightful and deserves a forever home! Khaleesi will need a fenced yard if left outside unattended at all, but she is not to be a strictly outside dog – she is too social to be left alone and she wants to be with those she loves. Khaleesi should make a wonderful family pet and should be great with children over the age of 10 (she might accidentally bump into a younger, smaller child with her joyful exuberance). She is crate trained, and Khaleesi is up to date on her vet care, is heartworm negative, is microchipped, and has been spayed. She is on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. With one of the most gorgeous coat colors you’ll ever see, along with a wonderfully sweet and friendly personality, Khaleesi will steal your heart in a flash! Our adoption fee is $125.
