My Story

Meet beautiful Kira, our blue-eyed pitbull puppy. Miss Kira is the perfect blend of her beautiful parents with a striking blue eye color and gorgeous coat. She is friendly, snuggly, and like most puppies loves to be held after playing and filling her belly. She is so young, that her personality is still developing, but at the moment is very quiet and attentive to her human care team. She weighed 6 lbs at her first vet visit on 8/31. We will be pre-adopting Kira, so we can best match her future volunteer transporter to the state that our chosen adopter lives. Her adoption fee covers this transportation cost, vetting up to that point, and microchip, but it will be a requirement to get her spayed at the owner's cost when she is old enough. Apply early, and we'll have her ready for you! The Full Story: The Puerto Rico Dog Fund (PRDF) is driven to end over-population of animals on the island, and during one of our free sterilization clinics, Kira and her brother Kimbo's parents were spayed and neutered - YAY! - and Kira and Kimbo were given to us to find them wonderful homes. We expect them to be big, sturdy dogs based upon their parents (see last pic in profile). We believe them to be born around July 17th 2024 (so approx. 7 weeks old as of September 3). They are receiving their vetting protocol of deworming, medical bath, vaccinations, and preventative medications (HeartGard and NextGard) and eating like the ravenous, growing puppies they are! :) Based on their estimated completion date of this health protocol, we will have them ready to travel to their approved adoptive homes after September 14th. They are doing well with puppy pee pad training and they sleep in an open crate together at night.
