My Story

Hello, my name is Leo! I am looking for my new forever family to give all my love to. I can be a little nervous when first meeting new people, but once I get to know you we will be best friends. I'm looking for a family who is going to invest time with me. I already know lots of things and it's evident that somebody had previously spent time working with me. I would do best in a family who is willing to keep this bond and connection going through training. Think of training like my love language. When you ask me to sit and give me a reward it shows me that we both speak the same language! My new home situation should be adult humans only and I should be the only pet. Come meet me today! Here is what shelter staff say about me: Leo is too funny. He is very goofy and very loving. He has a shelter mama here who he adores, but honestly, all the dog team members are his family. He loves seeing them and spending time with them. He LOVES his crate! I've never had a dog bulldoze me out of the way to get into his crate for the first time; we had no idea he had used one before and it brings him so much comfort. He likes to carry his favorite stuffy toys into the crate and sleep with them. Leo reminds me of a kid sometimes, in ways like that. He wants to play, be silly, play in the sun, cuddle his stuffed animals, all that good stuff. He also reminds me of a kid who just wants their mom when everything feels wrong; he drools a lot out of stress, has anxiety in the kennel, but once he is with one of his family members here, it all melts away. I know I've seen somewhere there's a word for missing someone you've never met...that's Leo. Missing the piece of him he's never met. Maybe there's someone out there who knows how he feels, and I hope they come in to meet him. If Leo is your missing piece...you are missing so much. If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog's better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes: - initial canine distemper combination vaccination - first worming or stool check - rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age) - 24 Petwatch microchipping - flea treatment/preventative - spaying or neutering -heartworm testing Adoption fee: $135.00 Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2024 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older.
