More videos and pictures: [https://photos.app.goo.gl/DWZ1qEuPtMQ1jAns5] Rescue Background Leslie was rescued from a kill shelter in Hongsung, South Korea. After spending a month with a foster family in South Korea, she traveled to the U.S. She was briefly adopted but returned when her family could no longer meet her needs (not Leslie’s fault). Since mid-December, Leslie has been thriving in New England with an experienced foster family. Her delightful, affectionate personality has earned her the nickname “Leslie Knope,” just like the lovable character she’s named after! Why Leslie Could Be Your Perfect Match Leslie is a lively, affectionate, and intelligent dog who thrives in an environment where she can enjoy outdoor adventures, companionship, and learning new tricks and commands! Ideal Home • Companionship: Leslie would thrive as a second dog in a home with a confident, playful alpha dog to guide her. She could also do well as the only dog in a household where she gets ample human interaction and love. • Active Lifestyle: Leslie’s energetic nature makes her an ideal companion for families who enjoy hiking, dog park visits, or other outdoor activities. • Structure & Training: She needs a family who can continue her leash training, set boundaries, and provide consistency to help her flourish. • Calm Feeding Routine: Leslie needs space during meals and treats to prevent resource-guarding behavior. Leslie’s Personality & Behavior Leslie is a fun-loving, curious dog who adores her humans. She shows her affection with happy tail wags, licks, and even gentle hugs. • Playful Companion: Leslie adjusts her playstyle based on other dogs’ cues and enjoys wrestling with social dogs. She loves fenced-in areas where she can run and sniff, even without other dogs present. Snow days? Her absolute favorite! • Adventurous Spirit: Leslie is curious about her surroundings and often shows interest in small animals like squirrels and rabbits. She has a strong prey drive, so attentive leash handling is important. • Calm at Home: After a day of activity, Leslie unwinds by relaxing on the couch or her bed. She’s content to rest quietly as long as she’s had enough exercise and stimulation. Training & Habits Leslie is a smart and eager-to-learn dog, making her a joy to train. • Commands She Knows: “Sit.” She’s currently learning “Down,” “Paw,” and “Heel.” • Leash Training: Leslie is working on her leash manners using a Starmark collar. While she may pull or bolt after small animals, she’s improving with consistent training. • Excitement Behaviors: Leslie sometimes tugs on clothes or socks when excited to see her foster parents. Her foster family is working on this by setting clear boundaries and redirecting her energy. • Chewing: Like many young dogs, Leslie occasionally chews on items like dryer balls or toilet paper rolls. Puppy-proofing your home and providing appropriate chew toys is recommended. Favorite Things • Toys: Squeaky toys, antlers, and Nina Ottoson treat puzzles. • Treats: Freeze-dried beef and chicken, chicken jerky, and chicken with sweet potato treats. Health & Care Leslie is in great health and up-to-date on her vaccinations. She is microchipped and takes Simparica Trio monthly for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. • Diet: Leslie eats The Honest Kitchen Whole Grain Chicken and Oat Food Clusters, with toppers like cooked beef and broccoli for variety. • Grooming: She tolerates baths and is fine with dryer sounds. A dog wash station is recommended for her long coat. Leslie also cooperates well with paw hair trimming using an electronic trimmer. Adoption Information Leslie is available for meet-and-greets in MA, RI, CT, and NH. • Adoption Fee: $650 (includes spay, vaccinations, and transportation). • Required Items: Tractive or Fi GPS collar, Ruffwear Webmaster harness, and a martingale collar. • Application: Submit an application to be considered for Leslie.
