My Story

Meet Little Man. At just 15 pounds, Little Man may be small, but he has a heart full of love to give! This sweet 3-year-old Rat Terrier mix is the perfect balance of cuddly companion and easygoing adventure buddy. He enjoys his daily walks, is good on a leash, and has a laid-back, medium-to-low energy vibe that makes him an easy fit for almost any home! Little Man is fully house-trained and non-destructive, so doesn’t need to be crated when left alone. He adores people of all ages—including kids—and gets along well with other dogs. Whether you’re looking for a devoted best friend or a loving addition to your family, he’s ready to be by your side. Little Man is heartworm positive but asymptomatic (with the treatment being fully covered by this rescue). He’s now neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and just waiting for a home where he can be spoiled like he deserves. Could that be yours? PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information. 2025 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $400 Dogs over 12 months - $300 For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed. *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our puppies live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
