Meet Livvy!
1 year
45 lbs
Livvy aka Olivia, was recently featured at the Aurora Animal Care and Control. She was surrendered to them because of her owner falling ill. The shelter life became too much for Livvy quickly. She became very shut down and retracted from affection. She trembled, hid, and sometimes peed on herself, overwhelmingly terrified of the shelter.
Rescued Rascals found out about Livvy and she has now spent time in a foster home. Within 24 hours, the majority of Livvy’s fear washed away. Livvy lives with a mom, sister, 3 dogs and a cat. Livvy does great with older kids (7 and older). She might not do well with very small kids, as she is unaware of her body size with booty shaking and plopping into your lap for snuggles. Livvy plays well with all the dogs, but likes to chase the cat too much. She would do better in a cat free home.
Livvy is crate trained. At night, she sleeps on her dog bed next to the foot of her resident mom‘s bed. She no longer retracts from affection. She is excited to greet the new visitors that come over to meet her. Livvy is an expressive barker. She barks out of excitement when the family gets home. She barks when she wants to go outside, but no excessive barking at passerby’s. Livvy is decent at walking on a leash, but could use some direction here. She knows basic commands like sit, come, and stay. We have found that Livvy does not really like riding in the car at this point. We are working on some desensitization training.
Livvy is searching for her forever home. She doesn’t always come seeking affection, but once you kneel down to pet her, her tail and butt just wag away. It’s almost as if she is soaking up love for all the lost time of having a family!
