Lorelei
Adopted
Breed
Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler & Border Collie Mix
Lorelei is a great dog!!! She has a bit of a softer temperament than most cattle dog mixes. She looks like a border collie/blue heeler mix. Lorelei is 18 months old approximately and is spayed and up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped.
She is very sweet and cuddly. She warmed up to her foster family, including their dog savvy 7 year old, very quickly with a few treats. She likes her crate, seems relaxed in there and sleeps in there nicely. She was scared of their dog at first but then got curious. They were happy to be on a walk together and they’ve progressed to supervised play in the yard together. They chased each other and ran around together, lots of play bows from Lorelai, and it was a very positive interaction. Lorelai seems like she'd be friends with any friendly dog.
Good eater and food motivated. She inhaled her food.. might get a food mat to slow that down. She seems extremely happy. She can be skittish from things that surprise her but isn't reactive just startles/hides. She is still easily startled when we're on a walk by anything --another person, dog, loud noises, but it doesn't seem to take her off her attitude, more like a momentary reaction.
She is a sweet doll! Sleeps great in a larger crate. She’s very snuggly. Her foster dad sat on the couch and pet her late one night and fell asleep and woke up about 20 minutes later with her just on the couch next to him.
She’s happy to greet their kiddo in the mornings.
Seemed pretty good on leash. It needs a bit of work but she doesn’t pull much - minor pulling on leash as they approach home now that she knows walk route. Routine will help! There is a tiny bit of mouthing when she's really excited and getting pets.
She enjoys cuddles on the couch and really is a sweetie. Once she gets some energy out and things are calm, she definitely has an off switch. They have done some fetch in the backyard. She is learning lay down and turn (for on walk for her to turn).
She is going to make someone a great family dog, such a cuddle bug. Some of the pics make her look super calm—she definitely has energy and is a goof too, running around a little like she doesn't know what to do with herself. Will definitely need activity each day. She absolutely knows how to chill out. But she does have a lot of energy and can have zoomies and be wild as she’s still a young girl,so she needs to get her wiggles out before settling down for snuggles in the evening.
She communicates well (listening to the foster’s dog’s messages) and is getting more confidence at her foster home.
She has been very interested in squirrels now on walks. Not reactive but…If she was off leash we suspect she would be flying after. No idea about her attitude towards cats.
As far as dogs go she is fun and smart and lovey and such a fast learner!
