Please say hello to Lorraine! Rainy is a 2.5 year old, black, female greyhound. She is a Pisces, born 3.5.2022, and bred for racing in Australia, but wasn’t interested in a career and headed to the states for retirement. Is your home ready for her?
Lorraine is a sweet, affectionate girl. She loves to be with her people. The more you’re around, the happier she is; work from home would be ideal. She will stand next to you for as long as you will give her pets. Lorraine is a greyt balance of personality traits - she’s not shy, but she’s not boisterous; she is affectionate but not demanding; she is ready to go on adventures, but doesn’t have high exercise needs.
She currently lives with adult humans, other greyhounds, and a couple cats. She does well with adults; a home with children is not suitable for her. She gets along greyt with the other dogs in her foster home, but she will occasionally let them know they are too close to her space; so calm dogs that acknowledge dog-dog communication are a must. She is learning to be respectful of the cats and making progress everyday. She is cat correctable and would require a slow introduction managed by dog savvy humans to live happily with cats.
She kennels while the humans are gone, but she does experience separation anxiety. This is eased with other dogs being around too; she would not do well as a solo dog. She was previously allowed on furniture and shows moderate interest, but isn’t really allowed on furniture in her current foster home.
Lorraine’s ideal home: no kids, other greys, maybe cats, dog savvy humans. No fence requirement.
This dog is being fostered in the Des Moines Area. We do not ship dogs. Adopters must be committed to meeting the dog in the area it is being fostered.

The adoption fee for HGA is $300.00. This fee pays for medical costs including spay/neuter surgery, shots, parasite treatments, teeth cleaning, microchip and microchip registration fee. Each dog also comes with a special sighthound collar and leash set and muzzle. There is a $30 non-refundable application fee.
