Rescue Story:
Lotte was rescued from a euthanasia list at a municipal kill shelter in South Korea. Thanks to our south Korean partner, The Better Tomorrow Rescue [https://www.instagram.com/t.b.t_rescue], Lotte received a second chance at life. She has been adjusting beautifully in foster care and will fly to the U.S. once her forever family is found. Approved adopters will have a two-week trial period to ensure the right match.
Personality & Behavior
Lotte is a loving, curious, and adaptable dog who thrives on gentle interactions and companionship.
Lotte approaches new people with caution, sniffing gently and accepting treats. She warms up quickly to women, and while she may hesitate slightly around men, reassurance and patience help her build trust. With children, she shows curiosity and calmness, enjoying their company if interactions are patient and respectful.
She enjoys the company of other dogs, especially calm, well-mannered ones. Lotte is happiest around large dogs at the dog park but prefers those with gentle energy. Occasionally, she may growl briefly at overly energetic dogs but never shows aggression. She is indifferent to cats, birds, and other animals, showing only playful curiosity.
Lotte is a quiet companion, rarely barking unless alerting her foster family of strangers near the home. She loves lounging by the window, playing in the yard, or enjoying nosework puzzles.
Training & Habits
Lotte is a smart and well-mannered dog who responds well to consistency and positive reinforcement.
• Alone Time: Lotte handles being left alone for short periods well, especially if she has toys or treats to keep her occupied.
• Car Rides: She travels calmly and enjoys looking out the window, making her a great travel companion.
• Walking Skills: Lotte is an excellent walker, matching her handler’s pace and responding well to light corrections. She is curious about street food but stops with a simple “no.”
• Grooming: Lotte tolerates baths, brushing, and dental care without issues, although she’s still getting used to tooth brushing.
• Potty Training: Lotte is 90% outdoor potty trained. She occasionally uses pee pads indoors, especially overnight, and is improving with routine.
Health & Diet
Lotte is in great health, with no known allergies or medical conditions.
• Diet: She eats Orijen and loves treats like beef-flavored jerky, churu, and training snacks.
• Preventatives: She is up-to-date on vaccinations and takes flea, tick, and heartworm prevention (Heartgard and Bravecto ).
• Favorite Toys: Lotte enjoys nosework/treat puzzles, chewing on wooden sticks, and interactive play with other dogs.
Daily Routine
Lotte’s day is structured to balance activity and relaxation.
• Morning: Wakes up at 8 AM, eats breakfast, and takes a morning walk at 9 AM.
• Afternoon: Enjoys lunch, playtime, or nosework puzzles. She takes a second walk around 4:30 PM.
• Evening: Eats dinner at 5:30 PM, relaxes with her foster family, and gets groomed or brushed around 7 PM. Bedtime is at 10 PM.
Ideal Home
Lotte would thrive in a loving home that provides structure, gentle care, and plenty of companionship.
She would do well as the only dog in a family that can shower her with affection or in a multi-dog household with calm, well-mannered dogs. Lotte needs adopters who can continue her potty training and provide a consistent routine as she transitions fully to outdoor elimination.
A home with patient, active adopters who enjoy walks, playtime, and interactive activities would be perfect for her. Families with overly energetic or dominant dogs may not be the best match, but Lotte thrives with calm, gentle canine companions.
