My Story

Our adoption application can be found at the bottom of this pet's bio. Once your application has been approved, we can arrange a meet and greet with you and Louise. Louise is currently in a foster home in Portland, OR and is eligible for meet and greets! Although Louise is in Portland, her current family is willing to travel if it means finding her the perfect home. Meet Louise! Louise is a 5 year old female, pitbull terrier mix. Louise is fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and ready to find her forever family! Louise currently weighs 70 pounds. Louise was part of a bonded pair that was adopted from Texas. Louise and her sister, Thelma, were found wandering the streets as strays and taken in by a good Samaritan. Initially, the two seemed comforted by the other's presence, but as time went on (and as siblings would have it) they seemed to be more annoyed or bothered by the other's presence. The current family is looking to rehome either Thelma or Louise (but not both of them). The current family loves them both so much and raves about how amazing dogs they are and they could not choose which dog to rehome. We have posted them both in hopes of finding just one of them a new family. Louise would prefer to be the only dog in your life. She is able to see dogs pass by on walks and is totally fine, but she prefers to have all of your attention in the home. We would describe Louise's energy level as being a couch potato. She likes to go on walks at a slower pace and enjoys stopping to smell the roses! She spends much of her day lounging in her human brother's bed and sleeps with one of the kids in bed at night time. She is pretty low on the energy scale and adores lying out in the sun, but if a squirrel wanders into the yard while she's outside, she will move at lightspeed to try and catch it. Louise is not cat friendly and would prefer a home without cats. Louise is kid friendly! When Louise arrived at her current home, the human kids were 6 & 8 years of age. Louise sleeps in one of the kids beds every night or will happily sleep on the floor or the foot of the bed if the kids have a friend sleeping over. Louise would do great with any age of children! Louise is great on walks! As mentioned earlier, she enjoys stopping to smell the roses. Louise has a pretty good "heel" command. We use a gentle leader just to prevent her from getting excited when she sees cats and squirrels. Louise is fully potty trained and is always sure to potty outside. She will also let you know if she needs to go outside. Louise currently does well when left to free roam, but is also crate trained! Louise's ideal home would have a low - moderate activity level and Louise would LOVE a yard. Here's a small blurb about Louise from her foster mom: Louise is a snuggler. She gives “Louise hugs” which involves leaning her head and much of her body weight into her human. She loves tummy rubs and to have her neck scratched. She thinks she is a lap dog (though at 70+ pounds, she is not). She is gentle with her toys and loves soft fleece blankets. She has “puppy eyes” down and her loud happy wagging tail can be heard from a separate floor of the house. She is a love bug, will happily approach and greet any human and is VERY food motivated. Louise knows the commands "sit," "stay," "wait," and "shake." They know more words than we probably realize, but they know what a "walk" is, "going outside" or "going pee-pee," "dinner," and although they haven't learned to "come" when called, they do understand what "it's time to go inside" and a motion for them to come means. Louise is great about meeting strangers! She is all in for any pats she can get! She will bark to alert that someone is at the door, but quiets down quickly.
