My Story

PLEASE READ THE COMPLETE BIO AND SUBMIT AN APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: https://www.bullmastiffrescuers.net/forms.html BEFORE CONTACTING US. WE DO NOT RESPOND TO INQUIRIES UNTIL WE HAVE RECEIVED AN APPLICATION. If life is like a box of chocolates, Lt. Dan is the chocolate coated caramel that everyone looks for in the box. Lt. Dan is a six-year-old brindle male that came from a puppy mill situation and has been in our foster program for a couple of months. Like a chocolate caramel, he is sweet (though he has no calories), will stick to you (likes to be by your side) and comfort you (he wants to please and be near you). While in foster care, he has learned to enjoy leisurely walks on a leash and that he needs to do his business outside and other basic obedience skills. He has behaved well with children but we feel best if his forever home had older children as he can be clumsy in his play style. A special note about puppy mill survivors: Though Lt. Dan is not quite as fearful of most mill dog rescues, an adopter must understand that puppy mill survivors often come with “baggage” that needs to be unpacked which takes time. This baggage is fear – fear of loud noises, quick movements, vehicles, stairs, even a fear of leashes, etc., The fears can be deep seated and may not ever be completely overcome. Adopters of puppy mill survivors need to be gentle and patient. Lt. Dan will seek the comfort of his crate when the household gets too active or loud. A fenced yard (no electric fence) is required for Lt. Dan. Lt. Dan is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. If your family would like to provide Lt. Dan with the home he deserves, please complete the adoption application at https://www.bullmastiffrescuers.net/forms.html You can complete an online version or download the application in Word. We require a donation ranging from $100 to $600 for each adoption. The donation is based on the age and health of the dog being adopted as well as its level of training. 100% of donations are directed to the veterinary expenses of the dogs in our care. Lt. Dan is being fostered in New York; however, don’t let location be a barrier, BRI can arrange transport to many states east of the Mississippi!
