My Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.1/14/25. Lucy (Date of Birth 01 Oct 2024) is being fostered in Arlington 22204. Usually participates in the Potomac Yard adoption events in Alexandria. Appearance: Lucy is a purebred GSD with a very characteristic black and light grey "Panda" look. Size: Currently around 22 lbs, growing fast and expected to reach between 50 and 60 lbs. Temperament: Lucy is a "thinking" dog. Even when in unfamiliar surroundings, she is remarkably poised for a puppy. When in doubt, she will seek a safe space until she feels confident enough to explore. Not easily intimidated by other dogs, even those significantly larger, she tends to stay aloof until ready to interact. Currently lives with three other dogs (two males, one female) without issue. Other: Does well at the vet. Chipped. Not spayed. Potential adopter will have to address this when Lucy reaches an appropriate age. Does well with considerate and well-behaved children. Possible coexistence with cats: all I can say is that she has some prey drive, probably controllable, but there are no guarantees. Has a healthy appetite and is on an eating schedule. She is starting to understand the concept of walking on a leash, but, being a puppy, needs work. Not potty trained or crate trained. Travels well by car. Lucy has the potential to be a wonderful dog. She will need an adopter with patience and time to provide the training, mental stimulation, and physical activity necessary for her to thrive.
