My Story

This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally. **Please read Lucy Peanuts' entire profile, which includes a link to the adoption application at the end. Thank you!** Meet Lucy Peanuts - one of the eight pups in the Peanuts litter. These Lab/Fox Terrier mix pups were born 9/22/23 and are just over 5 months old and weigh between 20-25 pounds. We can't believe they have been waiting to find forever families for a month now...but we know these great new pictures will change that! Our southern rescue partner in Tennessee got a call to help 15 dogs (mommas and puppies) who had been loose in a trailer park. Luckily they were able to help all of them. These pups are a combination letter belonging to either Windi or Wavy momma - both posted on our website and shown here. Their foster shares "Lucy is a sweet little girl! She can be a little timid at first, but lovable and she listens well. These pups are all very social and friendly - and very smart! We expect them to stay medium sized as their moms are 27 and 28 pounds. Despite their original living situation they are no worse for wear. They have done great around other dogs and fantastic with kids, and will make wonderful family companions. They are of course too young to know any of their obedience or house breaking skills (though we are working on pad training because it has been soooo cold her for little ones to go out), so they will need families devoted to training. They are super loving and sweet despite their painfully humble beginnings." All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be. To adopt or learn more about Lucy Peanuts, you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, copy and paste this URL into your browser: WWW.GDRNE.COM/ADOPTION-APPLICATION [Adoption Fee: $575] ** PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works. Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM.
