She is currently nervous and standoffish with new people and tends to stay near me. She came into rescue with some scars on her body and extremely long nails. She did very well with my cats. I think she wants to play with them, but they are not having it. Haha We had company over the same day she came to my home and she did remarkably well. She was nervous and apprehensive, but stayed right near me and allowed them to show her love and affection. That night she slept in bed with me and the cats. As the night went on, she inched closer and closer to me, at times resting her head on me as she slept. In the morning, she waited for me to get her to come off the bed and went outside to do her business. She ate once I put some chicken on her kibble and drank water. After breakfast we went for a walk. She has gone on a handful of leash walks and does really well. She will pee on the walks, but hasn't pooped on them yet. She goes when we get back home. She walks out of the house fine, but needs to be on a leash to walk back in the house. She will approach the open doors, but then chickens out. On Sunday, I had to put her in the crate to run some errands. She was reluctant to go in, so I had to push her in there. Once in the crate she settled down and didn't make a peep, even when I got home. She was waiting patiently and quietly for me to let her out. I hope she does that well when I am at work during the week! She is currently nervous about getting into the car. I always have to bring her over and lift her front paws and then hind end to get in the car. She will try to get away from going in the car if she can. She rides great in the car though once she is in it. The groomer said she did really well. She started off really nervous and then she relaxed a bit. She now smells fantastic and her nails are clipped. She must feel so much better now. I am looking forward to seeing what her personality is like once she decompresses. 4/12/25-Foster mom Lisa has saved another life! Sweetie pie Lulu has joined the fam. Day one, Lulu has already made friends with Gus, Zoey ( & Sophie not in pic), the cat pack! 4/11/25-Ms. Lulu is a very beautiful & sweet 4 year old female boxer that came in today from a commercial breeder as they just didn’t need her anymore. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to her transport & overnight foster volunteers. Her initial vet check as she came into rescue noted she may have a low grade 2 heart murmur (often there is no murmur & just stress of coming in from breeder, anxious & noise etc), some old skin lesions & may need dental cleaning later after adopted. We will get her skin checked & a 2nd check on her heart at our other vet during her pre-spay checkup. Due to vet backups her checkup is not until Tuesday 5/13 & we hope to get her a spay appointment for soon after. Once she is spayed she will be ready for her new home.
