My Story

Meet Luna (formerly known as Hotdog… yeah, you read that right)! Hey there, I’m Luna! Once upon a time, I went by the name Hotdog—because why not? Honestly, I kinda rocked it. But now I’m living that majestic, moon-goddess life with a new name, new vibe, and the same goofy soul. I’m a 2-year-old, 40-lb Husky, and I’m basically everything you’d expect from my breed: I sing like I’m auditioning for “The Voice” and run like I’ve got somewhere really important to be (spoiler: I don’t). Water? LOVE IT. Kiddie pools, lakes, puddles—if it’s wet, I’m in it, living my best soggy-doggy life. Other dogs? I’m all about it! I play hard and loud, though, because I believe in clear communication. If a dog needs to hear my opinions, I deliver. Cats? Weirdly enough, I’m cool with those little aliens. Respectful kiddos? Bring ‘em on—I’ve got enough charm to win over an entire classroom. I’m up to date on vaccines, spayed, heartworm negative, and ready to make all the friends. Whether you call me Luna or Hotdog, one thing’s for sure: I’ll wiggle my way into your heart faster than you can say “good girl.” So, if you’re in the market for a water-loving, song-singing, fast-running goofball with a spicy past, I’m your girl. Adopt me, and let’s make memories that are out of this world! PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information. 2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $350 Dogs over 12 months - $250 *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match! For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
