Maeve here is just a pint-sized shepherd girl looking for love. At an adorable 33 lbs, Maeve has an itty-bitty shepherd shape covered in the cutest fluffiness, with a sweet, easy-going personality that make her a perfect companion for anyone who is ready to explore, take on an adventure or two and make one amazingly loyal friend. Above all though, its the eyes and the wavy-fur tail, the ears, and her delightful discovery of a dog pool half-full of water take a look at her cuteness in action!
When we are getting to know a dog we like to cover all the key elements of a dogs personality, leash walking, dog-friendliness, level of affection seeking, cat-tolerance etc. Introducing you to Maeve within those categories really helps give you a thorough insight. Starting with leash walking, Maeve was excited on leash initially, passing another dog she showed interest and lost focus on walking but with just a few minutes of guidance she was doing wonderful. Maeve has very little leash experience but that doesnt show, what does is that she is young and still learning about everything in life. A few passes back and forth paired with corrections had her walking well on leash, tuning into her handler and settling in. We have no doubt that with practice, guidance and a few treats you will have a wonderful walking and adventure companion.
When introduced to other dogs her interactions were friendly and welcoming, you could see that she felt at ease in the company of other dogs even though she did not display an overwhelming playfulness. Once she feels at home, she will easily build a playful connection if there is another dog in the home. She is respectful and even when excited, was great at not being pushy or overwhelming. Her play-style is gentle, easy-going, and occasionally vocal. Not loud and obnoxious, just a little attention getter.
Maeve met many people all of who she greeting calmly but enthusiastically including a three year old who she was incredibly calm and gentle with. She is not overly eager about getting to people but happily welcomes a hello and pets from strangers. While Maeve does have a bark, after all, we do suspect she is a shepherd mix and they know their bark, it was only used appropriately and stopped once given a verbal correction. With a little guidance, she will understand when and what to make noise at. Maeve would thrive in a home with a yard where she can explore and play. home.
When introduced to our house cat, Maeve was curious but respectful and lost interest quickly. If in a home without a playmate, a cat could become Maeves target for play and would likely bark or chase in an attempt to get the cat to play with her. Given this although she has cat-tolerant qualities, it is with an understanding that she has potential to cause a bit of chaos in pursuit of a playmate.
Maeve is still in her formative teen-puppy stage so a home that can provide consistent love, guidance, occasional adventures and social time is important. If youre looking for an attentive, loving, smart dog, Maeve is ready for adoption! Shes ready to join you on all your outdoor adventures and bring joy and excitement to your life. With her friendly and curious nature, Maeve is ready to make friends with your neighbors and become a regular at your favorite cafe.

Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?
The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog youve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!
Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dogs needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!
It doesnt stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:
