My Story

Thank you for your interest in adopting Mandy. Mandy lives in an Alabama foster home and will transport when she is adopted. We have been adopting dogs to families in the northeast for over 16 years. Mandy is approximately 8 months old and weighs about 35 pounds. She was underweight when we rescued her and we believe Mandy will grow to 50 or 55 pounds as a two year old dog. Mandy is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccines, heartworm negative, dewormed, microchip, and she receives parasite prevention. Mandy is a sweet and loving dog that thrives on attention and praise. She’s also food and toy motivated. Mandy has not lived with children in rescue, therefore we prefer she go to home with school-age kids. Mandy has not lived with Cats in Rescue, but we can cat test her. Mandy lives in a foster home with multiple dogs of various ages and sizes. We also have sister, Darla. She enjoys playing tug-of-war with canine friends and a romp around the yard, but she is a dominant female and will not do well with a dominant or reactive dog because we never want her misunderstood. She’d do great getting all the attention as an only dog with canine friends. Mandy is crate training and sleeps all night quietly in her crate, she has her meals in her crate, she sometimes takes a 1 to 2 hour nap in her crate during the day, but she is not the dog to stay home crated waiting on her family all day. We realize that people have to work, however, Mandy’s personality will do better with someone around more than someone who is absent. The total adoption fee is $585. This fee includes transportation to the northeast, we do not own the van service, and a health check and health certificate from a licensed veterinarian before the trip.
