My Story

Mango Smallfry may be timid at first, but beneath her nervous demeanor is a sweetheart who just wants to feel safe and loved. Initially unsure, the moment someone shows her patience, she melts into their arms, seeking comfort and warmth. She loves to cuddle, snuggling in close and even pawing for more pets. While she allows all handling and craves affection, Mango is still learning to trust new people. She may tremble and retreat when unfamiliar faces appear, but with a slow and gentle approach, she gains confidence. Though she showed interest in treats, she isn't quite ready to take them. Mango Smallfry is a sensitive soul looking for a patient and loving adult only home where she can continue to build trust at her own pace. Eligible for rescue and adoption. Meet Mango Smallfry at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Behavior notes: 02/24/2025 staff notes: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Mango was at the front of her kennel with soft eyes and a tucked wagging tail. She tried to push her head out heavily when I cracked the door open but got back when I reached in with the leash. Once secured she came right out with a mid level wagging tail. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally HANDLING : In the room, Mango was very nervous and walked around the room with a tucked tail and lowered body. She didn't approach me until I lowered myself and she ran towards me with soft eyes. She plopped herself into my lap and snuggled herself into me. She allowed all handling and just wanted to be comforted. Another staff member entered the room and she cowered behind me, trembling and lip puffing. She approached them slowly and sniffed the treat they offered but retreated back into my arms. She loves to cuddle and will paw at you for more pets. She did not take any treats but did show interest in them. PLAY: No interest TOYS: No interest 02/23/2025 staff notes: Was territorial barking at Intake staff and ACA's. Did growl at me whenever she felt I was too close to her owner. Previous shelter stay notes: 11/06/2024 staff notes: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Small fries was in a crate due to space. Allowed for very easy leashing and was wiggly and very patient! No issues retruning LEASH SKILLS: Pulls moderately HANDLING: In the yard Small fries was super sweet and affectionate. She immediately ran over to us and climbed into a handlers lap giving low wags and seeking out pets and attention. She was very gentle and submissive nudging herself as close as she could to the handler PLAY: No interest TOYS: No interest COLOR LEVEL & ANY RECOMMENDATIONS: Green 11/05/2024 staff notes: Very dirty from pond sludge and should be bathed when possible. 11/05/2024 staff notes: Never showed any aggression to us just fear and wouldn't walk on a leash, both of them showed the same behavior ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
