My Story

Meet Mason!! This boy is great with other dogs but he is terrified of the world. Mason brightens up when paired with his buddy Rayne! He needs a patient adopter or foster who can work with him to gain some confidence. Whats better than one dog? Two! If youre looking for the perfect duo, here they are! Please meet Miss Rayne and Mr. Mason. Mason is unsure of humans and relies on Rayne for reassurance. They are in need of a foster or adopter that can give them a loving home to grow and thrive together! Miss Rayne is 1.5 years old retriever/ shepherd mix, spayed and is UTD on shots. Shes full grown and weighs about 50lbs. Rayne is a social butterfly! She loves dogs and humans. She walks well on a leash and is potty trained. She knows some basic commands but will need to continue her training. She looks after Mason and is helping him learn to trust humans. Rayne is a super big love and likes to cuddle on the couch with her humans after playing! She likes to put her paw on top of your hand. She also likes to lay at your feet while you work from home. Rayne is kennel trained. She sleeps well in her kennel or free on a dog bed. She would also make a great personal space heater if you wanted to share your bed! Mr. Mason is a 7 month old German Shepard Dog. Hes about 55 lbs, neutered and is UTD on shots. He loves playing with Rayne and looks to her for guidance in situations where he is unsure. He is curious and respectful of cats, which is big for a GSD! Aside from his shyness, Mason is a true big goober of a puppy! He loves to play with toys, be outside, run and explore. Mason may be part dragon; he likes to collect his toys in his kennel and lay on them! Especially shinny ones like his water bowl! Mason is going to need a special person to help bring him out of his shell. While he is very nervous around humans, he can be handled. You can touch him and put hands on him/pick him up if needed but he freezes and shakes. He's never snapped, growled, or shown any signs of aggression. He likes to keep his space. If you walk towards him, he moves away. If you're too close for his liking while he's walking somewhere and you move, he will run the other way. Or if you raise your voice he cowers. Dont get too worried because this big scaredy cat is already making great progress! He is already taking treats from humans hands and playing tug (at a reasonable distance of course)! Also, if he thinks the humans arent paying attention he will come up and sniff you, and may come hang out on the couch or even lick your ankle to say hello! Mason likes his crate and recognizes it as his safe space. He sleeps in his kennel overnight and can be left for a reasonable amount of time during the day with no problems, as long as there is another dog in the same space. He doesnt like to be left alone right now. Mason is still working on potty training but making progress. Mason currently wears a collar no problem, but will freeze when a leash is attached, or slip lead is put on. He seemed to do a little bit better in a harness but will need training down the road once he has built up some confidence. If you think youre a good fit for this adorable duo and are interested in fostering or adopting, please apply at pawsandclawspetrescue.com; or contact Sarah at 206-403-7968 for more information. It should be noted that Rayne could be adopted or fostered by herself, but Mason would need to go to a home with another dog to show him the ropes. They are doing better together and we would like to keep them together if possible.
