My Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Max, 1.5 years old, neutered male, Pitbull mix, 53 pounds. He is in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport out of State once an adopter is approved. Max is a friendly guy who lives in a foster home with another dog who can be very forward. Max is very demure, very mindful, very cutesy with his doggy interactions, and tends to allow her space and to lead their interactions. He's friendly and eager when passing other dogs on a leash, and even spent time in boarding where he ran his heart out playing with the other dogs. He's met big and littles, old and young, males and females, and is a very well balanced guy. As you can imagine given his younger age, he is an energetic dog. He is looking for a home with lots of opportunity for mental and physical outlets - he enjoys his walks and playtime with his foster parents, could stand to gain some training for basic obedience, and would thrive in continued doggy socialization settings. He enjoys a good game of fetch and the opportunity to chew on stuffed toys. He's a fantastic car rider and a generally happy guy, always wagging his nubbed tail. Max has not been around cats much but has encountered a few on his walks, and appears curious. He has not lunged or tried to run after them, but we can't speak to how he would do in a home setting. Max has been around older kids (10yrs) and done really well - he just kept wagging his tail and begging to be pet. Based on his energy level, we think Max would do best with an older demographic of kid and certainly those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues. He is strong on a leash - mostly from excitement to be outside - and will pull wherever he wants to sniff. He would benefit from some basic training to help with loose leash walking, and may do well in a Gentle Leader head collar or no-pull harness. Max is well versed in house manners, and is fully potty trained and used to being crated up to 8hrs a day while his fosters are at work. He prefers to sleep on the couch or in bed with you but does know when it's time to kennel up. Max has not displayed any signs of food aggression or resource guarding, but is fed separately from his Foster Sister, as a rule of his Pawrents. Max is described as very affectionate, thriving on human interaction and loving to cuddle but can be timid with loud noises or sudden movements. He has a bad habit of love biting - never from a standpoint of aggression - but he stops when instructed. He loves meeting new people because it means more pets and lovin'. When asked their favorite thing about Max, this is what his foster has to say: Max is just so stinking cute! He’s not too big but not too small, he’s the perfect size! His body is black and white but he has this brown color on his face that makes him look so adorable! He also has big cute front paws and he sometimes randomly places one of them on me for attention. It’s so cute how he follows me everywhere and just looks at me with his human-like eyes and starts wagging his little nub uncontrollably. Max is a very happy pup that’ll brighten up anyone's day. :) ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him?
