My Story

Age/Birthdate: 1 yr • Expected Weight: 85-90lbs • Breed Guess: Great Pyrenees Mix • Fully Vetted: No • Adopt fee: $350 Location:Plainfield,IL Any Special Medical or Special Needs: Temperament with: Dogs:Great and playful Cats:Not tested Children list specific ages:Wonderful 15 and 17 playful, active Strangers: Shy at first Training Needs: Crate Trained:Yes Potty Trained:Yes Hi, I’m Max, a lovable 1-year-old Great Pyrenees! I’m a big, fluffy boy with a gentle soul and so much love to give. I may be shy when meeting new people, but once I warm up, I’m loyal, playful, and full of affection. I get along great with other dogs—playful and loving is my style. While I haven’t met any cats yet, I’m sure I could learn how to be their friend with the right introduction. I’ve been around teenagers (ages 15 and 17), and I love spending time with them. I’m playful and active but always sweet. At home, I’m a dream! I’m potty-trained and can free-roam the house without any issues. I know basic commands like “come” and “stay,” but I’d love to learn more, like “sit” and other fun tricks. I’m also treat-motivated, which makes training me even easier. I love being outside and watching over my yard—it’s like my kingdom! A fenced yard would be amazing, but I’d also do great with daily walks or visits to the dog park. Whether it’s a cozy home with kids, a farm to roam, or an apartment where I can go on frequent adventures, I’ll fit right in. I do have a little separation anxiety at first and may cry when left alone, but I’m learning to feel secure and relax. Don’t worry—I’m not destructive and don’t cause any trouble when left to roam the house. Some of my favorite things include playing outside, chewing on bones, and snuggling with my people. I love giving my paw, bowing playfully, and leaning in for cuddles—it’s my way of saying, “You’re my favorite person!” If you’re looking for a big, gentle, loving companion to share your life with, I might just be your perfect match. I’d love to meet you and show you how special I am! This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Please note that we cannot hold dogs for any reason. If the dog or puppy is not yet fully vetted, we can only consider applications from adopters within an hour's drive or 40 miles of Lemont, IL, due to required vet visits at our partner veterinarians. For fully vetted dogs or puppies, we welcome applications from out-of-state or beyond the 40-mile radius. Please only apply if you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into your home within five days of approval. Breed and Age Information: Unless the puppy was born in our care, we cannot guarantee the breed or age. Breed and age estimates are based on veterinary advice, shelter records, physical appearance, and information provided by previous owners. Adoption Fee: $350 The adoption fee includes: Spay/neuter (performed at one of our partner veterinarians as scheduled by the rescue) Microchip Rabies vaccine DHPP vaccine Bordetella vaccine 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease) General wellness care, including deworming, heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention Your adoption fee also helps support medical care for other rescue animals, including heartworm treatments, surgeries, and emergency care. Spay/Neuter Policy: We spay/neuter dogs at 16 weeks or older, at the discretion of the rescue and in consultation with our partner veterinarians. While some veterinarians recommend delaying the procedure based on a breed’s projected size, as a rescue, our primary goal is to prevent unwanted litters. Spaying and neutering also provide significant health benefits, including cancer prevention and reducing behavioral issues. The American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association support pediatric spay/neuter for cats and dogs as early as 8–16 weeks. We carefully assess each case to determine the best timing for the procedure. Interested in Adopting? Submit an adoption application at www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt
