Talk about a dog with the personality that you don't come across often. Max is so special, he's one in a million and he's a show stopper with those handsome good looks of his. I hope you have plenty of picture storage on your phone, you're going to need it! I wouldn't be surprised if you even get stopped by strangers telling you how handsome he is. He's not just good looks though, he has a personality to match that is incomparable to any other dog you have met. One of the cutest things about Max are his goofy mannerisms. He loves to toss toys in the air like he's air bud, hops like a bunny when he's running around or get excited and loves turn into a limp noodle and slide on and off the couch like it's a game. He is a natural born entertainer that also loves affection and snuggles. By having Max in your life, you will forever have a permenant smile on your face.
Max is a shepherd mix approximately 1 year old and currently weighs 52 lbs and is believed to be full grown! He is a rescue dog and with any rescue, its always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. We can guarantee that when you adopt Max your life will be filled with endless love, adventures, and snuggles!
Speaking of snuggles, Max is a total snuggle bug! He loves affection and thoroughly enjoys a nice snuggle session on the couch. He honestly believes that he is a lap dog. Hell nuzzle himself in the most gentleman-like way all the way into your lap and happily lay there like a baby all while looking up at you with those big brown eyes of his. It doesnt matter if he has known you his whole life or just met you 5 seconds ago. He loves affection no matter where its coming from. He instantly bonds with people, even strangers out in public. He happily greets everyone with tail wags and kisses. If youre looking for a companion to take with you to coffee shops, patio hangout spots, and other dog friendly places, Max will happily be your partner in crime.
He also has an adventurous side to him as well. He loves to explore new places and enjoys walking through trails, smelling all the new smells and just enjoying the great outdoors. Maxs leash skills are impressive as well. He hardly ever pulls and only pulls occasionally when he wants to go say hello to a new human friend or doggie friend. It doesnt take much to correct him either, a simple leash correction and check in with his handler is all it takes. His foster mom even says that he already has a great recall and isnt the type of dog that is going to run off or stray too far away. He loves to be around people and other dogs and could even potentially be trained to walk without a leash. Max is very treat motivated, eager to learn and loves to make you happy! He is already crate trained, potty trained, and is learning some basic commands with his foster and she is impressed by him on a daily basis. He is sometimes even left in his crate for upwards of 9 hours on occasion with no issues! So if youre someone that works long hours, Max will be there waiting patiently for you to come home. He would also be a great candidate for someone that worked from home. He is not destructive and has great house manners, can entertain himself and isnt always getting into things hes not supposed to. He loves toys and will happily lounge on the couch nibbling on a stuffy or tossing it in the air playing by himself. Although, he sometimes gets the occasional shoe confused with a stuffed animal. But not to worry, he is very understanding when you let him know shoes are not toys and will happily trade you for the right toy.
Max is extremely dog friendly and is currently fostered with 3 other dogs and is best friends with them all. He is fostered with a male 10 year old shepherd mix, an 8 year old female shepherd mix, and another male 8 year old husky mix and his favorite foster sibling that he gravitates towards the most is the 8 year old male husky mix. He gravitates toward him the most because out of his other foster siblings, the younger husky enjoys playing just as much as Max does. Max loves to run around and play chase, likes the occasional wrestle matches, and loves to play tug of war. Hes the type of dog that has a play style that can match any dogs playstyle and he knows when its time to take a break too. If you have another dog that likes to tumble and wrestle or a dog that favors a game of chase, hell easily be a great match for either of those play styles. Max has this great ability where he can match any dogs energy and is respectful towards dogs that dont like to play. One of his foster siblings (the female) isnt much of a playful dog and she has only had to give him one verbal correction letting him know that she doesnt want to play. Now he knows that if he wants to play he needs to go play with his other foster siblings and he is very respectful of that. He isnt much of a vocal player as well. Sometimes he will let out an occasional hey play with me bark but thats really the extent of it. He is so great with other dogs that we believe he would make a great match for any type of dog. Max is also the type of dog that doesnt need the company of another dog. He is a confident, happy go lucky guy that will love being your one and only. Although, we would love to see him go to a home with another dog that likes to play.
Overall Max has a perfectly balanced energy about him. His foster says hes the perfect mix of playful and calm. He is the best of both worlds and a dog that can do it all. When hes not out on adventures with you, playing in the backyard for a game of fetch, learning new tricks, or enjoying playtime with other dogs, hes a mellow chill guy snuggling with you on the couch or relaxing on his bed. We also believe he would make a great apartment dog. Yes, he still has some puppy-like energy but for the most part he is a chill guy and a simple walk around the neighborhood or walk down the street to your local coffee shop will be just fine for him.

Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!
Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
The rescues hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical caresuch as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic carecan lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.
It doesnt stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:
