My Story

"Where flowers bloom, so does hope." -- Lady Bird Johnson Hello there! My name is Meadow. I am a beautiful, 3 1/2-year-old, 50-ish-pound Husky lady. I have lived my whole life in a cage as a breeder in a puppy mill. My hope is to spend the rest of my life being a beloved pet as part of a wonderful family. I am learning SO much in my foster home. I'm learning how much fun playing with toys can be. I'm learning how to play with other dogs. I'm learning how it feels to lie on a nice soft bed or couch ( I LOVE it!!). I'm learning what it feels like to be pet and loved on. Kisses ae the best! I'm also learning how to only go potty outside. I haven't gotten that part down yet, but I'm getting better every day! I do not like being put in a crate. Can you blame me? I get along with dogs, though I may need a little time to warm up and feel comfortable. I'm good with calm, respectful kids. As you can imagine, I'm a little skittish right now, so high-energy kiddos might scare me. I will need a family who is patient and unconditionally loving as I learn lots of new things at my own pace. My true personality will only be revealed over time. Your patience will be rewarded tenfold with a wonderful and sweet companion. I will need a home with a privacy fenced yard. Another dog to play with and learn from would be nice, but I should be fine as an only dog. Once I feel comfortable in my new home, a family who will take me with them on adventures to dog-friendly places would be amazing! Are you the one to make my hopes become reality? I HOPE so! Because of this, Rescue One does not adopt to outdoor-only homes. Pets are family and are not disposable. Please make sure that you are 100% committed to a pet before considering adding one to your home. We are a foster-based organization, and we need more fosters to help us save more animals!
