My Story

Meet Meeka, a stunning brindle and white Mountain Cur mix with a heart full of potential. This sweet lady is a bit nervous at first and is looking for a patient and loving family to help her build her confidence. Once she feels safe and comfortable, Meeka's true colors shine through, and she becomes the most loving and devoted companion you could ask for. With her gentle nature and gorgeous coat, Meeka is ready to find a forever home where she can thrive and share all the love she has to give. Could that be with you? Meeka says: When I arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, I tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm positive dogs like me to be while going through treatments and recovering is with a loving and forever family like yours. If you choose to adopt me, the clinic staff will be with you every step of the way, answering questions and offering support. The process from detection to the final treatment is generally three months and involves some simple at-home steps to keep me safe while I recover. The last step in the process is a follow-up test six months after my treatment begins. The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful and the staff anticipates that I will fully recover! Yeah! And you should know that Heartworm can only be transmitted from animal to animal by mosquitoes. Stop in and meet Meeka in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email [email protected] or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
