My Story
Hi there, I’m Mellie!
I’m a spunky, independent Lab mix, born in mid-September 2023, which makes me about 4 months old. I may be little, but I’ve got a big personality! My foster family calls me “Miss Independent” because I love exploring, learning, and taking on the world one paw at a time. Whether it’s romping around the house or chasing after toys, I bring energy, joy, and just the right amount of mischief to every moment.
Here’s why I’m paws-itively amazing:
• Adventurous Spirit: I’m always ready to explore and take on new challenges (even if that just means figuring out where you hid the treats!).
• Social Butterfly: I love people and other pups—playtime is my favorite time!
• Crate Trained Cutie: I already know my crate is my safe space and settle in like a pro.
• Smart & Curious: I pick up on things quickly and love using my brain to figure things out.
• Puppy Energy Galore: I bring the fun wherever I go!
Now, let’s talk about my heart… literally.
I was recently diagnosed with Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), a heart defect. But wait—don’t leave yet! Keep reading! I know that might sound scary, and trust me, I wasn’t thrilled about it either, but here’s the good news: it’s not affecting me right now, and there’s a chance it never will. I’m still the same playful, happy pup, and I plan to keep living my best life!
And here’s something really special—the amazing rescue that’s cared for me since birth has promised to continue supporting me. They will cover my bi-annual echocardiograms at their partner vet in Rosarito, Mexico (and they’ll even handle transportation for me!). So my future family won’t have to worry about a thing—just giving me all the love and belly rubs I deserve!
What’s my dream home?
I’d love an active, loving family that’s ready to embrace my fun-loving spirit. Whether it’s a home with other dogs or one where I get all the attention to myself, I know I’ll thrive with people who believe in me as much as my rescue does. If you’re looking for a resilient, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining puppy, then I might just be the one for you!
My adoption fee is $550. This fee covers my first year of vaccinations, spay, and microchip. Do I sound like the dog for you? You can fill out an application to adopt me at thecantufoundation.org
If you’ve read this far, it means you think I’m cute and worth it—guess what? Everyone who knows me thinks so too! ?
