Mickey

Meet Mickey! Mickey has an incredible story. Our organization has had a street dog rescue in Kyiv, Ukraine since 2018. Mickey really deserves the chance to find a new loving home. Mickey is from Bakhmut, Ukraine (a city that was destroyed by war). Before the war, Mike lived in a house and was happy with his owners. A Russian missile destroyed the house and killed his owners. Mickey miraculously survived, but he was orphaned. Mickey was found by a Ukrainian soldier, and somehow made his way to our shelter in Kyiv, and now Pacifica! Mickey is a delightful dog. We were told he is approximately 6 years old but he acts younger. He is very active - he loves walks and he jumps very high whenever he is excited! He is toilet and leash trained. He is in a foster home with a family with 2 kids and 2 other dogs- he is a good family dog. Mickey is a funny dog. Even though he is an older dog, he is very playful with my 2 other dogs, but never aggressive. He is also very good with my 2 children. Although he can sometimes get excited when they are running so I recommend children 6+. He likes to find small space to curl up and sleep in like the kids' play tent, or in the closet. He has stolen food from the table, so you need to be careful with that! Mickey is a playful, gentle, incredibly good-natured dog. Mickey would prefer to sleeo in the bed, loves to kiss a person, and jump on their lap. He will do very well with a routine and lots of exercise and love. Mickey would be a great family dog or a companion for a couple or single person. The employees at our shelter in Kyiv said he should NOT be housed with cats because he chases them. Small animals would not be good either. Mickey had to be vetted by 3 countries before he could come to America (Ukraine, Poland and the USA.) He has a microchip, current DHLPP and Rabies vaccinations, negative Dirafilaria (Heartworm) test in Ukraine AND the USA. Teeth were cleaned in Ukraine and he was dewormed. We also obtained permits from the USDA and the CDC to import Mickey. Per the CDC rules for importing dogs from Ukraine, Mickey was re-vaccinated for Rabies in the USA and then quarantined in the house for 10 days.
