My Story

Meet Millie! Millie is approximately 10-12 months old and is thought to be a possible Blue Heeler mix. Millie came to us as a stray and was not claimed by her family, so we do not know what her life was like prior to being found. On her first day, Millie was quite shy - she seemed overwhelmed with the environment, so we let her take things at her own pace...and let us tell you, that didn't take long! After just a couple of days, Millie showed us her confident, sassy, playful and silly Heeler personality! For anyone who is not familiar, it is completely normal (and expected) for pups like Millie to be bossy and nippy - it's literally in their DNA! That being said, for those who have owned these breeds before, you know that they are SO fun, easy to train, and fiercely loyal! They make great companions for people who are active and involved with their dogs, and she's got a ton of potential that's ready to shine! Millie's ideal family would be one who is ready to provide her with daily exercise, structure, and a balance of brain and body work. These pups thrive when they've got a job to do, and love pleasing their owners. Millie has played with other dogs here and should do well with a dog who has a complimentary personality (and who can tolerate her herding instincts!) Same goes with kiddos - if the parents are familiar and willing to manage the environment and utilize her abilities in the proper way, she should do just fine with kids! Millie does a great job at keeping her kennel clean at the shelter, so we think she'll do well with adjusting to the new potty schedule with a crate. She would likely do well as an indoor pet or as a farm dog, depending on the humans' lifestyle and expectations. This goofy girl is so fun and ready for adventure! If you want a nice-sized companion for all of your outdoor exploration, Millie would love to meet you! We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been approved: https://www.co.monroe.wi.us/departments/dog-control/online-animal-adoption-application Millie will be fully vaccinated and spayed prior to adoption. Her adoption fee is $180.00
