My Story

Meet Milton! This energetic and playful guy came to us as a stray, and he's ready for a fresh start in a loving home. Milton is friendly and loves attention, but his boundless energy can make leash walks a bit of a challenge. He may need some extra training on his manners, but he's overall a good boy on a walk. At the shelter, Milton has been described as easily distracted, especially when toys are nearby! He enjoys playing with them and is comfortable letting staff take them away without issue. When it comes to food, Milton is very easygoing-he allows his bowl to be taken away and doesn't show signs of resource guarding. Milton's interactions with other dogs are a bit more enthusiastic-he loves to meet new pals but can be a bit overzealous, especially when it comes to mounting. If you have another dog at home, we recommend bringing them in for a meet-and-greet to ensure a good fit. Milton would thrive in a home with an active family who can help him channel his energy into fun and learning. If you're looking for a playful companion with a big heart, Milton just might be the perfect match! This pet is eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? It's a 5-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff! Be sure to check the "shelter information" box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours! Both of our locations are open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12-5 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 12-7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information on our adoption process, including requirements and fees, visit: www.fairfaxcounty.gov/animalshelter/adopt
