My Story
Mira Mira on the wall… who’s going to adopt this sweet girl, after all?
Everyone, meet Mira! One of the 30ish huskies from the hoarding case we assisted with in holland back in May.
Momma Mira, as we knew her (she came in with small puppies), moved into a foster home a few weeks ago and she is THRIVING! Now that she has settled into a normal (and spoiled) home life, she has really shown us just how perfect she is!
Mira is FINALLY ready for a forever home now, and so the search begins!
A message from her foster:
“LOOK! Mira means “look” in Spanish…and this girl embodies the name in so many ways. She is always on the lookout with her striking eyes…one brown eye and one piercing blue. Her beautiful little face is always on the lookout for YOU, other dogs, food, toys, interesting things and danger (she’ll tell you if there’s a stranger at your door and then probably kill them with kindness…)
In our family, when you truly love someone, you give them lots of nicknames. We affectionately call Mira: girlfriend, Meer-cat, Miss Mira, misses, little miss, “Mira Mira on the wall”, little love, sweetheart, Dobby (from Harry Potter…when her floppy little ears go back) and we are always singing/asking “how much is that doggy in the window” because she is always on the lookout for you to come home to her.
We are on the verge of becoming notorious “foster fails”, because we love this sweet girl so much. Mira (who we believe is between 1 & 2 years old) is living with my two 9 year old Golden Retrievers. As she has come out of her shell, she desperately wants a playmate. My two grumpy old men tolerate her playful tendencies, but they won’t engage. Mira deserves to have a family with another younger pup that is looking for a lifelong playmate. This is just the right thing to do for her and for them, so sometimes when you truly love someone, you have to let them go.
Mira came from a horrible hoarding situation, and was skin and bones when she arrived at our home. Showing people photos of her ribs and hip bones protruding made people gasp and even have to look away. She spent the first 2 days with us petrified and hiding under the bed. Over the last several weeks she has made great strides in weight gain, has learned to trust people and has hit all those milestones that make you smile so big…like finally getting tail wags and zoomies! Even though she is an adult, she’s finally getting to be a “puppy” and learn what it’s like to be a spoiled dog. This little girl does the sweetest things once she warms up and will quickly steal your heart. She’s an all-in cuddler, leaning her whole body into snuggles, she affectionately gives kisses, and will gently paw at you when she wants more pets.
When she wants to play she does alittle “roo roo” howl and play bow, and then it’s game on!
We love this girl so much, and we know you’ll love her just as much too!”
