My Story
Meet Moony! This handsome, happy-go-lucky aussie is 4 years old and oh-so-lovable! He is neutered and up to date on all of his vaccinations. He is in excellent physical health, the only exception being that his vet recommends his grown-ups brush his teeth at home once a day to ensure long lasting dental hygiene.
Moony’s grown-ups had a baby that is now a toddler (who Moony is, and has always been, amazing and gentle with!) and plan to have another baby. Through no fault of his own, they have decided Moony deserves a family more well-equipped to consistently give him the attention, energy, cuddles, and love he deserves.
Moony is a very high energy boy and loves to play! His favorite activity in the world is to fetch - he will happily spend hours chasing and retrieving any sort of ball. Fetching and playing make him a very happy boy and his big, beaming smile is incredibly infectious. When he’s all tuckered out he is perfectly content to relax and recharge on his own, but keep in mind he loves to cuddle and snuggle - he absolutely adores a long head and belly rub. He’s incredibly sweet and affectionate, so much so that he won’t shy away from giving you all the kisses if you let him!
Moony loves adventures as you can tell by his pictures. He loves all outdoor environments and climates and has experience within them - from the beach to the forest and the sunshine to the snow - he really loves being outside in the fresh air! Whether it’s on walks around the neighborhood, visits to the dog park, or traveling by car to a destination, he would be your perfect adventure companion!
Moony is house-trained, and he gets along with other humans, kids, and dogs exceptionally well. We aren’t sure if he is cat friendly, as he has never lived with nor interacted with any directly. On walks while leashed, he is known to get quite excitable and pull hard (he is quite strong!) if he spots a fellow dog he’s interested in meeting. To mitigate the pulling and lunging on walks, Moony requires continual focused training that will allow him to be successful on walks without reactivity.
Moony is a smart, very well-behaved boy and knows basic commands (sit, lay down, stand, stay) and with more attention and training has amazing potential to learn much more! At 50#, Moony is the perfect size for all your outdoor escapades. He’s big enough to keep up on long hikes and small enough to curl up on the passenger seat to ride shotgun. He would enjoy Search and Rescue training or agility or dock dog sports.
True to aussie form, he is fiercely loyal and protective. He keeps close watch out of windows for deliveries and visitors and will often rumble a low growl and issue a warning bark. Similarly with the pulling on walks, this behavior could be addressed and mitigated. With proper exercise (multiple walks and outside play each day!), Moony’s parents are certain that his restless behaviors and over excitement in walks will be minimized.
Please consider giving this good boy a chance at a new life with lots of fun escapades. He will bring you nothing but joy and love for years to come. We will require an application prior to any meet n greets.
