Let's Meet Mr. Handsome Shorty! Hi Awesome People, My name is Shorty and am a 6-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix with a big heart and a gentle soul. Weighing in at 60 pounds, I am a loving, loyal companion who thrives on human connection. Whether it’s snuggling on the couch or taking a quiet walk, I am happiest when I am by your side. My affectionate nature and goofy personality make me the perfect best friend for someone who’s looking for a loyal, loving dog. I live in Vancouver, BC and can travel to Washington or Oregon with my current mom if I find my forever family. Little about my journey: My early life was tough— I was raised in a difficult environment but despite my rough start, my sweet nature shone through. I was rescued and spent some time in a shelter in Seattle, WA area before a caring and loving woman from Vancouver, BC adopted me. Even though we couldn’t meet right away due to COVID-19 restrictions, I finally found my way home, where I have been showered with love ever since. Due to changes in my current home, I now spend long hours alone during the day, which leaves me feeling lonely and sad. My mom loves me dearly but knows that I deserve a home where I can get the attention and activity I craves. That’s why she’s made the difficult decision to find me a new home where I can be happier and more fulfilled. I can be reactive around other animals, so I would do best as the only pet in the home. I need someone who understands dogs, especially larger breeds, and can provide the structure and training I need. I love people, including kids, but my excitement can be a bit too much for small children. A home without young kids would be ideal. I would love a secure large yard where I can run and play safely. I get lonely when left alone for long periods, so I would thrive in a home where someone is around more often or can give me plenty of attention throughout the day. I am a fully house-trained and kennel-trained dog who quickly settles into my nap time after a little singing when you leave. I am incredibly affectionate, love to cuddle, and am great with meeting new people. While I still have some excitement around new visitors, with continued training, I will be the perfect well-mannered companion. My vaccination is up to date, neutered, house trained.
