My Story

Age/Birthdate:3yrs • Expected Weight: 50lbs • Breed Guess: Pit Mix• Fully Vetted: No • Adopt fee: $350 Location: Any Special Medical or Special Needs: Temperament with: Dogs:Great Cats:Great Children list specific ages: Great Strangers:Great Training Needs: Crate Trained:Yes Potty Trained:Yes Hello, I’m Mystery! I’m a 3-year-old pit mix with a beautiful white coat and a heart full of love to give. When I first came to the rescue, I wasn’t in the best shape—very underweight and not feeling well at all. But thanks to my incredible foster, I’ve gained strength, put on some healthy weight, and am feeling better every day! I’m a pretty smart girl, even if I still have a few basics to learn. I’m great at everyday things like staying put and even opening doors, though I’m still mastering commands like “sit.” With a harness, I walk much better, but I can pull on just a collar, so my foster is helping me work on that. I’m great around food, too—I’m not protective and will even wait for my friends to finish before checking their bowls. I love treats, so training is something I’m excited about! I enjoy playing with my hard rubber ball (the one with a rope through it!) outside, carrying it around to show off to the other dogs. I also love bones—no rawhides, though—just good chew toys! But more than anything, I adore being with my people. I love snuggling on the couch, laying my head on your lap, or just being close by. When my foster goes out, I always want to come along, but I settle down and wait patiently until they return. My dream family would be loving, caring people who appreciate my gentle soul. I’d do great with kids, and I’d love a doggy buddy or even some kittens to look after. A fenced yard would be ideal so I can run, play, and do my zoomies. After everything I’ve been through, I know I deserve a wonderful, happy life, and I’m so ready to share all my love and loyalty with my forever family. Could that be you? She/He is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. We cannot hold our dogs for any reason. Unless the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will only consider applications that are within 1 hour or 40 miles of Lemont, IL. This is due to the required vetting at our partner veterinarians. If the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will allow adoptions out of state or outside of our 1 hour or 40 mile restriction. Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within five days of approval. ADOPTION FEE: $350 (includes spay/neuter must be done when the rescue schedules it at one of our partner vets, microchip, rabies vaccine, DHPP vaccine, 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease ) and a general wellness which includes dewormer, heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention) *Please understand that we will spay/neuter no younger than 16 weeks but it is the rescue's discretion when the dog will get that procedure. We know that some veterinarians recommend waiting depending on the breed's projected size but as a rescue, our goal is to prevent further unwanted, "accidental" litters. Spaying and neutering also have many benefits for cancer prevention and avoiding behavioral problems. The American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association support pediatric spay and neuter procedures for cats and dogs as early as 8-16 weeks of age. We always assess and speak with our partner vets when is the best time to perform this procedure. Interested? Submit an adoption application at www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt
