Hi, my name is Nitro! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I need an experienced home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Snuggly, SMART, people oriented, energetic
-Can Live with Kids: At this time we are looking for an adult-only home for Nitro. Older teens who are dog-savvy may be considered, but it is up to a counselor's discretion.
-Can Live with Cats: No - unknown history
-Can Live with Dogs: No, Nitro has some severe fear-based reactivity and will need some extra work in this area.
-Can do Apartment Living: No, a home with a yard would be preferred. Nitro was previously an outdoor only dog, so we would consider a working type dog situation for him.
-Potty Trained: May need a little work.
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: 1-3 private lessons may be required based on adopters' experience.
-Energy Level: High!
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes a neuter
-Additional Information: Nitro is a loving boy who has had a bit of a rough go at life. Unfortunately he was attacked by another dog in his previous home, which has left him with some physical and emotional scarring. He will need to be the only dog in his new home, and will need a patient adopter who can commit to working on his confidence. Nitro is treat motivated, and is excited to show off his tricks (sit, shake, down and more!). He would excel with a job to do and is a good candidate for someone wanting to try out nosework or similar dog sports! We think once Nitro has had a chance to settle, he will become a "velcro" dog who loves to be around his person.
