My Story

Oakley is an 8-month-old, 41-pound Australian Shepherd mix puppy with ½ a white face and ½ a black face. If you have a sofa, Oakley wants to live with you. He loves nothing better than to stretch out full length on the sofa for a snooze, though he will happily make room for you should you desire to sit down. If you have a blanket on your sofa, so much the better. Oakley is a beautiful, vibrant dog who gets along with everyone: adults, children, dogs and cats. His very favorite thing to do, besides snuggle with foster dogmom on the couch, is to run zoomies around the backyard with the other dogs. There are 7 other dogs (along with 3 cats) in his foster home, and he runs circles around the rest of him. As an Australian Shepherd puppy, Oakley can be a bit rambunctious and needs exercise. A daily walk or trip to the dog park would suit him very well. He would also benefit from some dog training. Though multiple people live in Oakley’s foster home, he is stuck to foster dogmom like glue. He follows her everywhere. He is an excellent protector: nobody gets to mess with dogmom. Oakley is a very curious dog. Open a closet, a cupboard, the refrigerator, and he’ll have his head in before you’ve even realized he was behind you. He doesn’t destroy or take (well, unless there’s something really good in there); he just wants to look. Oakley would be an excellent family dog or companion to a single or couple. He’d also be a good family dog for older children. (The young ones he’d knock down like bowling pins in his exuberance.) Oakley’s adoption fee is $275 and includes neuter, all shots & microchip. He is heartworm-negative and on heartworm medication. Note: We always respond first to inquiries that tell us something about your living situation (house, apartment, single, family, etc.) and why you want this dog. Be sure to include your phone number in your inquiry. We call inquiries that seem to be a good fit for the dog.
